Terms & conditions.
Our studio policies keep the sisterhood safe, fair and clear for everyone. Please review before joining.
By purchasing a membership, package or class with Sisters in Motion, you agree to the policies below. Billing is handled securely through MindBody.
Membership & billing
All recurring memberships are billed every 4 weeks from your start date through automated billing in MindBody. Paid-in-full programs are non-refundable and non-cancelable. Mindbody may charge a 2.5% fee to all credit card charges and purchases.
Membership hold policies
All Membership Holds
- For all membership holds, the member's first scheduled payment during the hold will be collected and held as a return credit. The credit will be applied to the first payment upon reactivation.
- For Paid in Full (PIF) memberships, the approved hold period will be added to the end of the membership term, extending the expiration date by the same amount of time.
- Unless the member communicates with SIM and receives approval for an extension or different return date, the membership will automatically resume at the end of the approved hold period.
- For a Standard Membership Hold, membership will resume on the agreed-upon return date or 4 weeks from the first day of the hold.
- For an MRO/Medical Hold, membership will resume on the agreed-upon return date or at the end of the approved medical leave, up to 3 months from the first day of the MRO. Extensions require updated medical documentation.
- Members are responsible for communicating with SIM before the end of their approved hold if their circumstances have changed or they need to request an eligible extension.
- If the first payment due after the return credit has been applied does not successfully process, SIM will contact the member and provide an opportunity to update her payment method.
- If payment remains unpaid and the member does not communicate with SIM, the membership will be cancelled and the standard $99 early-cancellation fee will apply when applicable. Any return credit will be forfeited.
- Once a membership has been cancelled, any previous or grandfathered pricing is no longer available. Members wishing to return may re-enroll at the current membership rates and options available to new members at the time of re-enrollment.
Standard Membership Holds
- Members may take up to two 4-week membership holds per calendar year.
- Each hold must be taken as a single, consecutive 4-week period and cannot be divided into individual weeks or shorter increments.
- There must be at least 3 full active billing periods between standard membership holds.
- Members who have used both standard holds for the calendar year, or who need another hold before completing the required 3 active billing periods, may request an additional 4-week hold.
- Additional holds are subject to studio approval and are not guaranteed.
- If approved, an additional hold carries a $100 extended-hold fee.
- Standard and additional holds are intended for circumstances such as travel, scheduling needs and other personal circumstances.
Medical Holds (MRO)
- Medical holds are separate from standard membership holds and do not use the member's regular hold allowance.
- A member may receive an MRO of up to 3 months with documentation from a physician or qualified healthcare provider.
- Documentation does not need to disclose the member's diagnosis. It only needs to confirm that she is unable to participate and indicate the anticipated period of restriction.
- There is no hold fee for an approved MRO.
- If the member is still unable to return after 3 months, the MRO may be extended for an additional 3 months with updated medical documentation.
- Additional 3-month extensions may be considered with updated documentation when medically necessary.
Pregnancy & Postpartum Holds
- Pregnancy and postpartum holds are separate from both standard holds and MROs and do not use the member's regular hold allowance.
- A pregnant member may begin her pregnancy hold at any point during her pregnancy, allowing her to continue participating for as long as she chooses before initiating the hold.
- Once initiated, the membership may remain on hold throughout the remainder of the pregnancy and through 16 weeks postpartum.
- There is no fee for a pregnancy/postpartum hold, and medical documentation is not required to initiate one.
- If the member is not medically able to return after 16 weeks postpartum, she may transition to an MRO, at which point medical documentation and the standard MRO extension policy will apply.
- Pregnancy/postpartum holds do not affect the member's eligibility for her standard membership holds.
Cancellation of memberships
Paid in Full memberships are not eligible for cancelations or refunds. Financed memberships require a minimum of 90 days before cancellation during whist time students must be active members, followed by 30 days written notice sent to admin@sistersinmotionsf.com. Cancelling before the end of your initial term incurs an early cancellation fee of $99.
Renewals & month-to-month
Once your minimum term is met, you may either renew your financed membership with a new down payment and keep your billing prices with a renewed annual term OR you may choose a month-to-month membership of $259 every 4 weeks with no annual commitment, until we receive 30 days written notice to cancel. After your original term is met, month-to-month cancellations are no longer subject to an early cancellation fee. In order to secure your current pricing, you must renew your membership by the expiration date of your current contract. If you do not renew by the expiration date, you will be subject to current pricing options.
Class policies
- Arriving on time — We offer a 10-minute grace period for late arrivals. If you arrive more than 10 minutes late, you will not be admitted, even if the studio door is unlocked. No refund will be issued.
- Cancellations and no-shows — Please cancel your class reservation at least four hours before class begins to keep your class credit. Cancellations made less than four hours before class and no-shows result in the loss of your class credit plus a late cancellation fee of $30 for in-studio classes or $20 for virtual classes. No monetary refunds are issued for missed classes.
- Class credits — Class credits renew each membership billing cycle. Unused credits expire at the end of that cycle and do not roll over.
- Studio cancellations — We reserve the right to cancel classes. If we cancel a class, we will return a class credit to your account.
- Virtual participation — Please have your camera on during check-in. You may turn it off during movement. Attend from a private space where others cannot see or hear the class to protect every student's privacy.
- Privacy and guests — Photography, filming, and recording are not permitted during class. Observers, including children, friends, and family members, are not allowed.
- Phones and devices — Please silence and put away phones during class. Computers may only be used to attend virtual classes.
- Scents and hygiene — Please arrive in clean clothing and wear deodorant, preferably unscented. Avoid perfumes, body oils, and heavily scented products.
- Injuries and modifications — Let your teacher know privately before class about any injuries or limitations that may affect your participation. You are always welcome to modify, pause, or decline a movement. Follow your teacher's guidance and work within your comfort and ability.
- Safe participation — Students who appear impaired and unable to participate safely will not be permitted to take part in class. No refund will be issued if participation is denied for this reason.
- Respectful conduct — Treat every student and teacher with respect. Harassment, unwanted comments, and touching other students are not permitted. Please do not offer unsolicited feedback, teach, or spot other students. If something makes you uncomfortable, speak privately with your teacher or contact the studio.
Private lessons & parties
Private lessons require at least 14 days notice to cancel for a refund. Private parties require a 50% non-refundable deposit upfront; with 14 days notice, the deposit may be credited toward a future booking.
Holds & medical rollovers
Students may place accounts on hold for up to 2 months. Medical rollovers require documentation from a physician and must be used within 4 months.
Virtual & online classes
A minimum of 3 students must register at least 12 hours prior for an online class to proceed. A 2-hour cancellation notice is required. Recording of classes is strictly prohibited.
Safety & conduct
The studio reserves the right, at its discretion, to deny participation for intoxication, safety violations, or disruptive behavior, with forfeiture of payments. As with any movement practice, we recommend consulting your healthcare provider before beginning.
Photo & film release
By attending any event, class or studio activity (excluding Journey classes), you agree to being photographed, filmed or recorded and authorize Sisters in Motion to use your image for marketing purposes without compensation. Please let a teacher or the front desk know if you'd prefer to opt out.
Key Fobs
- All in-studio SIM members are issued a building key fob for access to the studio. Each key fob is individually assigned to the member receiving it and may not be transferred, loaned, or given to another person.
- Key fobs remain the property of Sisters in Motion and must be returned when a membership ends.
- If a key fob is lost, please notify SIM as soon as possible so that it can be deactivated and a replacement can be issued.
- Key fobs must be returned within 7 days of the end of membership. Any lost or unreturned key fob will result in a $25 replacement fee charged to the payment method on file.
- When a membership ends, the member's key fob will be deactivated regardless of whether the physical fob has been returned.
